Adrian Seabrook wins club handicap
Adrian Seabrook won the club handicap for the first time thanks
to a walkover victory against Arthur Flutter. See the

25th September 2010:
Andrew Gregory wins club tournament
Andrew Gregory regained the club championship with a close-fought
+3 victory over Mike Porter. See the full draw on the tournaments
page.
15th September 2010:
Bob Brashaw wins high-bisquers' tournament
This year's
handicap tournament for the higher-bisquers was won by Bob Brashaw,
who beat Bernard Yallop in the final. See the full draw on the tournaments

11th September 2010:
Newport beat Chelmsford 4-3 (Essex-Suffolk League)
Newport returned
to winning ways with a close victory over Chelmsford. They finish the
season with 4 wins out of 5, but were just beaten to the league title
by Colchester North. A report on the match is on the "NCC

14th August 2010:
Newport lost to Colchester North 2-3 (Essex-Suffolk League)
Newport's
unbeaten league record came to an end with a narrow defeat to Colchester
North. Individual scores can be found here.
7th August 2010:
Newport beat Bury St Edmunds 4-1 (Essex-Suffolk League)
Newport continued their unbeaten record in the league this
year with a comfortable win over Bury St Edmunds. Individual scores
can be found here.
25th July 2010:
Newport beat Hunstanton (Roger Ivill Trophy)
Newport regained the Roger Ivill trophy in their annual match
against Hunstanton. Having to cope with the unfamiliar situation of
playing on green lawns, the golf croquet players were beaten, but the
tie was swung Newport's way by the association players who did not lose
a game all day. The final result was the narrowest of victories for
Newport, by a score of 14.5 to 13.5.

2nd July 2010: Newport
Oaks beat Sudbury (GC League)
Newport's
"Oaks" team had a resounding victory over Sudbury in their
latest league match. Details on the "Golf Croquet"
page.
23rd June 2010:
Newport lost to Bowdon (Mary Rose)
Newport travelled
to the neutral venue of Nottingham to play their second round game against
Bowdon, but came away defeated. Scores and a report can be found on
the "NCC Matches" page.
20th June 2010: David
Mumford wins Newport B-Level
An international
field of nine - including one Aussie and one Kiwi - competed over the
weekend for the Gordon Tankard. After two days of competition, David
Mumford (Woking) and Andrew Gregory (Newport) had each won five games
out of six; the trophy was awarded to David, who had beaten Andrew.
Particular thanks go to Dianne and Roy for their superb catering on
the Saturday!
12th June 2010: Newport
beat Colchester South 4-1 (Essex-Suffolk League)
Newport's
Association Croquet team continued its winning start to the season with
a strong performance against Colchester South. A report, and detailed

5th June 2010: B-Level
Golf Croquet Tournament
A very successful
golf croquet tournament was held on a beautifully sunny day. A photo

23rd May 2010: Roger
Tribe wins the Super-B Tournament
The super-B
tournament for players with handicaps of -1 and above, was won by Roger
Tribe of the Kenilworth club.
19th May 2010: Newport
Elms lost to Sudbury (GC League)
One of Newport's teams played its first league match, at Sudbury. A
narrow 11-9 defeat was the result. A photo is available on our photos
page.
8th May 2010: Newport beat
Ipswich 3-2 (Essex-Suffolk League)
The opening league fixture
of the season resulted in a narrow victory for Newport. A full report

5th May 2010: Club Tournament

The draws for this year's
Association Croquet tournaments have been made and can be viewed here.
18th April 2010: Success at
the EACF Club Champions' Tournament
Congratulations to Mike
Porter, who won the A-class event at the EACF Club Champions' Tournament,
held at Wrest Park. Chris van Essen and Robert Skeen also represented
Newport at this event.
1st April 2010: Newport to
play Bowdon or Cheltenham in Mary Rose 2nd round
Newport received a bye
through the first round of the Mary Rose (the second-tier national inter-club
championship). In the second round they will play the winner of the
match between Bowdon and Cheltenham.
1st April 2010: Mike Porter
wins postponed club tournament
The final of the 2009 club tournament, delayed until
the start of this season, was won by Mike Porter. He defeated Andrew
Gregory +23.
7th March 2010: Season start date
decided
The 2010 croquet season will begin at Newport
on Saturday 27th March. All club members are invited to come along and help
to set up the lawns.
25th February 2010: International
Match at Newport
Newport has been selected as the
venue for this year's McWeeney Trophy - the match between teams representing
the Croquet Association and the Croquet Association of Ireland. The match
will take place on 10th and 11th July.
1st January 2010: Happy New Year!

little indoor croquet
being played.
