Robert Skeen wins Higher-Bisquers' Tournament
Robert Skeen
won this year's higher-bisquers club tourney, beating Bob Brashaw +2
on time in the final. Full results for all the club tournaments can

6th September 2009:
Newport regains Roger Ivill Trophy
The annual Roger Ivill match between Newport and Hunstanton
commemorates a much-loved player who was a member of both clubs. After
a two year gap, Newport regained the trophy with a narrow win. A short

29th August 2009:
Newport 2 Bury St Edmunds 5 (Essex-Suffolk League)
Newport continued its season of incredibly close defeats with
a 5-2 loss to Bury. Five of the seven games ended with a score of +1

CA Tournament cancelled
Regrettably, a lack of entries has resulted in cancellation of the tournament
scheduled for 19th and 20th September.
11th August 2009:
Newport beat Bury St Edmunds (GC Friendly)
A friendly match between golf croquet teams from Newport and Bury ended

Rotary Club Friendly
Saffron Walden Rotary Club defeated Braintree Rivers Rotary Club in

Newport were soundly beaten in their latest ESL game. Scores are on

Newport turned the tables from their previous match by winning

3, Colchester South 4 (Essex-Suffolk League)
In possibly
the closest match in ESL history, Newport lost out to the Colchester

27th June 2009: Martin
Ambrose won the Newport Golf B-Level
Martin Ambrose, of Downham Market CC, won Newport's B-level golf croquet
tournament. A short report is here.
21st June 2009: Mike
Porter won the Newport B-Level
Mike Porter
successfully combined managing the B-level tournament with catering

4, Colchester North 3 (Essex-Suffolk League)
Newport's
Association Croquet team defeated Colchester in a tightly contested

23rd-26th May 2009:
Newport players in Essex team
Two Newport
players, Mike Porter and Chris van Essen, represented Essex in the Inter-Counties
championship over the Bank Holiday weekend. Essex proved to be the
Hull City of the Inter-Counties; after a promising start, they led the
tournament after the first day but a series of poor results, culminating
in four successive defeats, meant that they escaped relegation to division
two only through other results going in their favour.
14th May 2009: Newport
lost to Sudbury (EACF GC League)
Newport's
campaign in the EACF golf croquet league got off to a losing start,
with a loss at Sudbury. See the golf croquet

Club Evenings
Starting on
12th May, Tuesday evenings from 7 onwards will be "Club Evenings".
A chance to play Golf, Association, or just to meet other club members!

for Club Competitions

have been made for the club's Association Croquet tournaments - these

27th April 2009:
Success for Newport at Club Champions' Tournament
Three Newport
players represented the club at the East Anglian Croquet Federation's
"Club Champions' Tournament"; while Mike Porter and Chris
van Essen had a modicum of success in the A- and B-class events, Bernard
Yallop was the one who walked off with the silverware, winning the handicap

16th March 2009:
New season about to start
Following extensive work over
the winter - the hedges are now about 8 feet shorter - the club is set
to open on 28th March. Here's wishing everyone a successful croquet
season!
